Chestermere is in bad need of proper commercial warehousing space. Light industrial warehouse space is used by an incredible diverse group of businesses and would allow many of the business owners in Chestermere to relocate their businesses to Chestermere, plus attract new companies to Chestermere and enhance and diversify our commercial tax base.
Chestermere is fortunate to be located on the Trans Canada Hwy 1, unfortunately past Councils have not seen value in the massive volume of commercial and industrial traffic that passes Chestermere every day. Our Council believes, this is a massive untapped revenue stream and need that will substantially benefit residents. Additionally, this Industrial Park area is located in close proximity to CN Rail Yard and Stoney Trail ring road. Meaning this location is perfect for warehousing and even Distribution centres.
These types of businesses would provide significant amounts of employment opportunities for Chestermere residents, which is a huge plus for our families to have parents work closer to home and short commute times, allowing more precious time for family events and relationships.
Financial Benefits to residents - The Centron Industrial Park would bring approx. $1 Billion of Commercial value and $7.5M tax annuity every year.
Meaning this part of this project alone would equate to almost 50% of the residential taxation Chestermere receives currently. These types of decisions by our council to push for Commercial light Industrial development will have a long term positive effect on funding the City's tax needs, freeing up significant capital for resident focused projects, such as recreation. Providing a major foundation pillar to build Chestermere from. Additionally, bringing more quality businesses to Chestermere to support our Community, providing jobs, support for not for profits and support for the Chamber of Commerce.
